PFC / Aranjuez
Sanz Serif, a makeshift nickname earned as a result of my typographic likes, is the umbrella under which I present the diverse facets of my work: academic research on architecture and urbanism, design speculations, graphic design, curatorial and editorial work, and writings developed individually or collaborately, in institutional settings or independently.
Current focus: Workscapes.
Experimental hotel and renovation of the Roman st. in Aranjuez, Spain
The project aspires to renovate the inner logic and order of the 12 Roads in Aranjuez, Cultural Landscape of UNESCO, by assimilating the new realities that interact with it. A process of restoration of the original access to the city, renovation of the tree-lined streets, and improvement of the connectivity between the suburban green spaces and the city, starts by deploying a new building and program, a catalyst of systemic change.
On the footprint of the existing road, the hotel's Service road is located. This long building limits, together with the adjacent roads, a new garden that joins the collection of historical gardens of Aranjuez, and in which a grid of hotel rooms and fruit trees colonize landscape following an agricultural pattern.
With regard to construction, the service road and the rooms belong to the same family: light-weight structures, in permanent tension, in which every part is essential.
